About Yours Truly

My Photographer’s Pledge To You:

I promise to show the truthiness, the whole truthiness and nothing but the truthiness so help me Photoshop. - Dawn Nash

Yes. I said truthiness, a term coined by my late night editing companion Stephen Colbert. As a photographer, the truth would be to show an image straight out of the camera unaltered. However, I always make some adjustments to the images so they are more like the truthiness of the day. And just like the Colbert Report, playing around a bit makes it that much more delightful!

Not a Colbert fan? No worries. Neither is my husband whom I have been married to for over ten wonderful years! We have two amazing kids, Rose & Dylan as well as two cats, Jerry & Seinfeld.

As a person and a professional I'm pretty much a "no worries" and "easy peasy" kind of gal. I don't take myself too seriously and love to laugh as much as possible. I grew up picnicking on haystacks in a small town on the outskirts of the famously liberal Kent State in Ohio where everyone was pretty free to be exactly who they wanted to be. I can recall weekends during the 90's where I would spend the morning in Amish country and that same evening at a rave in downtown Akron. The combination of small town country life blended with ultra-liberal city life that defined my first 18 years has given me a strong sense of core family values while keeping me extremely open-minded to the world around me. I'm able to get along with people from a variety of backgrounds which has come in handy more than once as a destination photographer. Since leaving Ohio when I was 18 I have traveled around the US until I finally settled in Hawaii in 2002 where I quickly took to island life.

Not long after arriving in Hawaii, I began studying photography under Hawaii Photographer Ron Ebright. Later, I would continue my photography education at the University of Hawaii Pacific New Media program. To this day, you can still constantly find me taking workshops and classes to advance my skills.

My style is as diverse as my upbringing with hints of classic southern charm, modern edginess and sexiness with an island twist. I see the beauty in the classics combined with a contemporary feel and island ease. My passion for love and relationships are the driving force behind all my work. My goal is create artistic family heirlooms that capture the memories of the moment, enhance your home decor when hung on the wall and become cherished keepsakes for generations to come.
